Asa-raa is quite popular in the town right next to me (Fujieda, Shizuoka). I’ve been hearing about it for sometime but have yet to try it. I think I’ll have to go see what all the fuss is about.

As you mentioned, back in the day I used to enjoy a nice steamy bowl of ramen coming home from a night out of partying. But for breakfast?! Impossible. The garlic and oils in the soup would be way too much of a shock to the system for me in the morning I am afraid. I do like natto in the morning though, go figure.

Spam or ham & ramen is quite popular in Hong Kong for breakfast too. I don’t know many interested in eating fish so early.

More unusual to many might be condensed milk on toast.

That’s a pretty big if! They must call 100 fake “trends” for every one thing they talk about that’s actually popular.
